Happy Birthday to our darling, Lucy! What a year getting to know our sweet baby, whom we love with all of our hearts. We love watching her grow, change, explore and learn. There are not words to adequately describe our great love for this sweet little girl who has been such a wonderful blessing in our lives.
What a difference a year makes!

12 Month Update:
Lucy's latest baby tricks include regularly standing without support and walking with only one hand of support. She continues to sleep through the night, usually sleeping from about 9:30 until 7 am. Woot! Although we've always tried to read to her before bed I notice that in the last month she is actually interested in this routine and excitedly selects books, often switching selections in the middle of a story. And she now rocks to sleep rather than nursing to sleep.
Lucy also remains a great eater and pretty much likes everything (but not crazy about radishes). Some new things she has tried include chicken sausage, kale, pancetta, chard, spinach smoothie, grapes ... we just let her try whatever we eat. Cheese and berries remain big favorites. She is very interested in feeding herself and in drinking from a cup. Now that she is a year old she will get to try one of my favorite foods: cake, and one of David's favorite beverages: milk (not Coors Light). I'm continuing to nurse her.
She also likes to imitate things we do, especially Mommy. She likes to pretend to put toothpaste on my toothbrush and then she chews on it/brushes. She likes to try to brush my hair and brush her own. And recently I observed her trying to apply my lipstick after once again emptying the contents of my purse on to the floor. And of course she is very interested in our electronics. It is impossible to use the laptop while she is awake. She is also fascinated by smartphones and TV remotes (which she thinks are phones).
Lucy is a polite little girl, almost always saying thank you (you have to speak Lucy to understand it) after you give her something. I'm still working on "please" but mostly she just hoots and points when she wants something.
Other exciting things Lucy has done over the last month include swimming in the pool with Mommy and Daddy, attending the graduations of her Aunties Abby (salutatorian at Reno High) and Paige (University of Oregon, magna cum laude), and accompanying us on a week long road trip of the Pacific Northwest that included stops in Eugene, Portland, Deer Lake (WA), and Bend.
Physically she remains a petite little thing. I weighed her on the home baby scale this morning and she weighed only a little over 16 pounds in her birthday suit.
We can't wait to see what the next year brings!
Leave a birthday message for Lucy!
